From the seller: “1986/D plate MK1 3dr Sierra Cosworth RS500 replica for sale.
Location: Daventry, Northamptonshire.
ST170 engine / twin 40s / ME100 ECU – all working when I bought it – see video of it running (below).
Still needs a bit of work so I’m selling as a project.
I bought this car about 2 years ago, and it was a complete basket case.
Unknown to me it had a dodgy MOT and nothing worked properly.
It had been sat for over a year so would not start, and in all honesty both me and my mechanic were drunk at the time.
In the past 2 years, it has been stripped down inspected and rebuilt – that includes ST170 engine.
Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to get it finished, mainly because the mechanic went from an occasional recreational drug user to a full on crack-head over the past few months – not kidding!
Then he made an error with the wiring and that was when I decided he was fired and it’s time to let go of the dream.
What needs doing
Some of the wiring loom (3% nothing major) under the bonnet will need replacing as it’s been burnt out when he rewired the electric windows (the error)New exhaust & manifold, I removed the old straight through exhaust as it failed the MOT on being too loud.
Drivers seat needs putting back together again – has been welded (really nicely)
Fuel pump needs relocating back to rear (it’s all there just needs re-fitting)
Cooling system – needs pipes.
Cosmetically it needs bonnet vents – (£55 on ebay)
Roof lining missing.
What’s been done?
Refurbed Sapphire 17” alloys (£300)
RS interior (£2000)
New high-quality tyres (300)
St170 rear discs & callipers / st170 front discs with Mondeo bigger callipers (all red) (£400)
Neil Dunne RWD sump (£400)
Loads I’ve forgotten
The bonnet is genuine, the body kit not.”
