From the seller: “A really pretty and solid 1979 Austin Allegro 1500 SDL. She has a speedo reading of 44,000 which is believed to be correct. A proper eye catcher of a car – and if you do not like the MGB wheels (I guess that’s what they are) then the original wheels with tyres and hub caps come with the car!
Sweet engine. Yes, she is a 1500cc and a Super de Luxe also (wow!), and a cool looking customer in every respect. Her interior is in remarkable condition for a Leyland car of the late seventies with no damage to either upholstery or the “up-market” dashboard! She is on the key and ready to go although there is evidence of an oil leak which we think looks like being from the gasket where the fuel pump fits against the block.
There is a genuine following for these Allegros nowadays – believe it or not – and good ones are difficult to come by. She has a tiny “garage ding” in the front nearside corner just above the side light but I am being a bit picky here. She is in lovely condition.
Registered in August 1979 she now qualifies as both tax and MoT exempt. So when her new owner puts the old girl into his or her name, be sure to change the taxation class on the V5 to Historic Vehicle which now is what she is.”
