The British Motor Show is go!

Britain is finally back on the international motor show stage, with The British Motor Show opening its doors until Sunday August 22.

The event is at Farnborough International on the Hampshire/Surrey border, located within a two-hour drive for 50% of the UK population, with thousands of car fans and families expected through the doors over the four days.

The show was officially opened by The British Army Lightning Bolts parachute team with a daredevil display, and they will then return on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, dropping into the live arena at noon each day.

Opening the Motor Show, the show’s CEO Andy Entwistle said: “We believe that we are rewriting the blueprint for motor shows across the world. The modern consumer wants to be entertained, they want interaction and we have introduced a heap of passion into the show – a passion that is driven by each and every one of us in the organising committee, as we all live and breathe cars and our wonderful industry.

“We want to educate and entertain, to help consumers make that next technological leap, while at the same time delivering a day of great value family fun. No longer is The British motor Show the domain of petrol heads, we are offering a true family day out a place for car buyers as well as car fans.”

The show also welcomed a VIP guest to the show with The UK Minister for International Trade, Ranil Jayawardena MP, attending. He also took the opportunity to test drive the latest Jaguar I-PACE courtesy of Haydn Dibble, Commercial Director of show partner cinch.

At the heart of the show is  the Live Stage, hosted by CAR SOS Duo Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend, who will be interviewing a variety of celebrities and automotive influencers, including TV star Vicki Butler-Henderson, YouTube legend Yianni Charalambous and BTCC leading driver Ash Sutton.

Meanwhile, TV motoring pundit Mike Brewer is hosting the Live Arena. Over four days, the arena will see a mixture of thrills and spills, as well as parades and comparisons of some of the star cars at the show.

Twice daily, Paul Swift’s stunt team will wow the crowds with a stunt extravaganza, featuring sideways and two-wheel driving, while another key highlights will be the supercar parades, in which an amazing selection of the world’s most exotic cars will rumble into the arena and make some noise.

Other Arena features are the classic car parade and a twice daily show of some of the most important motorsport exhibitors at the show, along with Mike Brewer’s own group tests of some of the most important new cars at the show, from EVs to SUVs.

Each day, the event will close with a round of car football – The British Motor Show’s very own celebrity rendition of the Euro 2020 football championship final, with Fiats and MINIS representing England and Italy. And this time, England hopefully won’t lose on penalties….

Other highlights include the new Select Electric Motor Show packed full of the latest EVs  (backed by Select Car Leasing), three major automotive debuts, details of which will be announced on the eve of the show, a supercar paddock featuring more than 50 supercars a day, an official presence from the UK’s best-selling brand, Ford, as well as a number of other key manufacturers.

The Show will also feature the Automotive Careers Expo, which will run throughout the event and support the automotive sector and its employees as the Covid-19 Pandemic comes to an end.

No other Motor Show has ever delivered such a variety of content, celebrity guests and live action, nor has it had such a focus on supporting our incredible automotive industry, which contributes £18.6 billion to the British economy at a time when it needs it most. It has also announced a major partnership with cinch, The UK’s fastest-growing online used car marketplace, which will run for the next five years

The British Motor Show CEO, Andy Entwistle, said: “We’re really buzzing now as the show opens. Nowhere else can car fans and their families get such an amazing day out in the 2021 summer holidays, and all for just £18.50 per head, or £37 for a family ticket.”
