Visits to the Alan Mann Racing HQ are available to the media. Heny Mann still sits at his father’s desk, not drinking the whisky from the original 60’s office drinks cabinet behind him but instead, reading over race and test notes from in-period tests and races. The team still owns the 1968 championship winning Escort Mk1, and on any given day in the workshop, you might find a Lotus Cortina, Ford GT40 or a Mustang or two, all being prepped for historic racing meetings. AMR are based in Surrey, a stone’s throw from Alan’s workshop, in an area once known as the heart of the British motorsport industry.
