From the seller: “Welcome to my auction of a 1962 Sunbeam Alpine series2 in Lake Blue.
It’s a good, useable, and appreciating classic car. It has been stored in my garage since I bought it 10 years ago, only driven occasionally, and only on fair weather weekends. Comes with original hard top, soft top and tonneau, all of which could do with some tlc, as could the bodywork. Starts first time, drives and stops as it should with a fantastic rasping exhaust note.
Good bits:
Full top-end rebuild including hardened valve seats – uses unleaded fuel (e5).
Complete and original car – everything is there if you want to do a restoration.
Has a Ford Type9 5-speed gearbox which makes it easy to use in modern traffic.
Lap strap seat belts.
Bad bits:
Speedo doesn’t work, and hasn’t done since I’ve owned it. The mileage (15k) is what the Speedo is showing. It definitely is NOT correct.
Bodywork is showing signs of age, with a few rust areas starting to show on the panels, and a 5p-sized hole in the passenger footwell. See photos.
James Bond bits:
Yes, it’s exactly the same make/model/year/colour as the ‘Doctor No’ car. Turns heads everywhere. Everyone wants to talk about it.
With the exception of the gearbox it’s all original and everything is present. Ideal candidate for a full restoration or just use it as is. These cars are sought after and the prices are only going up.”
