From the seller: “1971 forward control 2b
Imported earlier this year from South Africa, ex British army and then used by the police before private ownership,
I bought this back this year on the intention of getting it restored and using it but too many other projects are taking up my time and space and I would rather it went to someone who has the time and effort to put into it.
A very solid original 2b with original gun turret. Custom rear back, would make an excellent camper conversion I always thought. All the sides open up and has custom made canvas windows which are in great condition.
2.6 6 cylinder engine (original engine confirmed by Land Rover heritage)
I’ve paid all the import duties on it and currently trying to get it registered here in the uk so it can be road legal but could obviously be used privately on a farm/Estate.
Could also be used as a donor vehicle for another project but I feel it’s too good for that.
Bad bits
Crack in the manifold where it bolts to the exhaust so it blows
Clutch needs attention (not sure if it needs replacing or just fluids looking at)
Needs original carb putting back on as it’s had one changed ( two strombergs supplied)
One seat back is missing
Rear glass in cab missing ( standard series truck cab so easy to get)
It runs and the 2.6 is sweet but just needs some time spent on it to get it running right.”
