Looking glorious in gold…
From the seller: “This particular example, known as ‘Rodney’, is a top-of-the-range GL model with velour trim and reclining seats, radio, heated rear window, two-speed heater fan and a cigar lighter. Being a late production ‘83 model, it has the improved covered headlight design preventing the wing corrosion issues of the earlier models. The car was purchased new from Normand Heathrow Ltd, and has spent the majority of its life in the Hounslow area clocking up relatively few miles with its elderly owner. The current owner then inherited the car through the family with only 2 owners showing on the logbook. After a lengthy spell of ownership mostly being used for high days and car shows in the Hounslow area (including Concorde Club events at Heathrow!), he has now decided that it needs its next long-term keeper.
Externally, the car is in good shape standing well in its ‘Antique’ gold paint. There are the odd few age related knocks and bangs; the worst to note is the rear offside quarter has a slight crease and a minor scrape on the back edge of the wheel arch. Other than that, there a couple of small dents on the front valance and the odd stone chip. All the glass is original, including the windscreen which has the reg still etched into it. As standard for Chevettes and Kadetts, the stainless tabs that hold the front of the pop out rear side windows have become unbonded – I’m told they usually did this a few weeks after leaving the factory, needing regluing every few months! These clips will be replaced with double sided clamp on clips designed as a sympathetic looking fix for this issue, we are just awaiting them from Germany.”
