From the seller: “Lotus Excel, 1985, 2. 2
80k miles
Only 4 previous owners.
Light project, requires recommissioning before MOT, runs and drives…
Good plate B805 XSL (Boss Excel)
Reconditioned standard wheels, excellent Toyo Proxy tyres x4 + unused spare.
This very smart looking example was owned by a retired enthusiast who home restored the car over a long period. It has been off the road since the late 90s as he repainted reconditioned and restored. The wheels are refurbished and the paint is still very presentable and shiny. The interior is very 80s period in nice condition with good carpets and headlining.
The chassis on these cars is galvanised and the body is of course fibreglass, so with the interior looking presentable and good paint the car really does look the part.
The engine I was told has been rebuilt and you can see the various new gaskets. The engine bay is very clean and presentable- its a great looking engine too and shows good oil pressure.
A new water pump has just been fitted and a brand new battery. It runs nicely and the car drives around the yard. Clutch action feels good.
New callipers have been fitted and the handbrake is working.
Headlights pop-up and work as do side lights, indicators, hazards, wiper, heater, rear lights and fan + door marker lights.
This is being sold as a light project, just needs checking through prior to an MOT due to time off the road but it’s all there and just needs tinkering with. It’s an exotic looking car for MGB project money and with Esprit prices doubling in a year these are starting to follow…”
