1988 MG Metro Mk2 for sale

From the seller: “Here we have a very rare MG Metro Mk2 in Black with body coloured Bumpers and Grey Fabric Interior with Red Pin Striping and Red Carpets, having covered an unbelievably low 18756 miles from new with a comprehensive service history and only 3 previous owners.

Once a common sight on our roads these Metro’s are now a rare sight with few having survived, especially in unrestored condition like ours. This MG Metro has been pampered all it’s life and was kept in a heated Garage by its original owner for many years. The ultra low mileage is backed up with a comprehensive service history together with loads of old MOT certificates. She still even has the very first Tax Disc issued within it’s history file together with original owners manuals, service booklet, original sales brochure and spare key set.

Sitting inside the like new interior is a blast from the past. The supportive sports seats are unmarked and very comfortable. The neatly laid out instrument cluster contains speedo and rev counter with water temperature gauge and fuel gauge with the warning light indicators neatly displayed in the centre. Simple and clear with no complicated technology to confuse and distract. The Dashboard is free of any cracks and all the Door Cards and Red Carpets are unmarked. Still present is the Standard equipment Radio Cassette Player boasting a fine display of classic Eighties Cassette Albums in the Cassette storage compartment below the Dashboard. The front door windows are manual wind up and down (remember those) and the rear quarter windows have hinged opening. The parcel shelf is still present and not been drilled with holes for speakers and the hinged opening Glass Tilt Sunroof adds to the light and airy feel to the cabin.

Driving the MG Metro feels just like driving a classic Mini, only quieter and smoother. She sounds unmistakably like a Mini but so much quieter and not as harsh. The steering feels light and responsive on the move (no power steering here I’m afraid) and the 4 Speed Manual Gearbox changes easily and smoothly. Performance is as one would expect, feeling quicker than she probably is in reality. But it sounds good and it all adds to the appeal. I drove her myself and was pleasantly surprised by how well she performed for a 33 year old car and she is far more comfortable to drive than a Mini. We recently took her on a 228 mile round trip and she performed faultlessly and made for a really enjoyable drive.

So if your looking for a classic car and something rare and a bit different then this little Metro could be the car for you. Not many left and probably the best one in the country for sale today making her a good investment and lots of fun.”
