To be honest, it would have been borderline criminal not to have uploaded a video of this awesome ex-rally car Mk1 Cortina, so we’re glad the seller went to the effort. Hear it running below….and then, maybe, put in a bid!
From the seller: “Retired rally car with roll cage, lightweight GRP doors boot and bonnet, limited slip diff, adjustable coil overs, new Retroford adjustable top mounts, new front suspension arms and bushes. Not an original LC but has many Lotus parts including correct dash, hump in boot, tramp bars and correct LC steel wheels. The Lotus Twincam engine had a full rebuild during lockdown, piston rings, main and big end bearings, valves, seals, tappets reshimmed and Comtec head gasket. All receipts available.
Overall, the car has a strong solid shell but it is ‘competition car tatty’ with improvised fixings, self tappers holding trim, multi patched floor panel, pipes running inside, hydraulic hand brake, a wide winged sump, competition fuel tank, electric fuel pump etc. The carpets, rear seat and centre console are just resting in place and there is no headlining. The rear arches are ugly and will need repair sections in the future. Neither speedo nor rev counter work but the capillary oil and temperature gauges show good oil pressure and steady temperature. The door bars have been removed from the roll cage but come with the car. Its currently being driven to car shows and drives like a stiff noisy rally car on the road but sounds wonderful and pulls strongly with no smoke. The engine is still being run in.”
