The life of Murray Walker OBE will be celebrated with a prestigious tribute evening at the National Motor Museum on Saturday 14th August, as friends, colleagues and fans share insights and anecdotes about the life and career of the legendary commentator, and admire a display of iconic two- and four-wheeled racing cars and bikes.
Loved by millions of fans around the world as ‘the voice of Formula 1’, Murray’s enthusiasm, knowledge and personality made him one of motorsport’s best-known figures, in an astonishing career that spanned seven decades. From Grand Prix to touring cars, rallycross to club and international motorcycle racing, Murray’s distinctive voice never failed to capture the excitement of the race.
Presented by The GT Organisation in association with PlateShield and the Historic Sports Car Club, the event will be hosted by former Grand Prix driver, racer and TV presenter Tiff Needell. Go! Go! Go! Celebrating the life of Murray Walker OBE will celebrate Murray’s life and his unique contribution to the world of motorsport.
Guests will have a unique opportunity to admire a selection of racing machines representing Murray’s career in the Wheelspinners Paddocks, with all manner of vehicles invited to take part and join the display. Then watch impressive demonstration drives, before joining a sparkling Racing Revellers Reception, followed by a three-course dinner.
Murray’s Moments will see some of Murray’s friends and colleagues take centre stage, sharing the memories that made this unique character so special to them. Guests will be invited to share their memories and put questions to the distinguished panel. Then bidding will commence on carefully selected items of Murray Walker memorabilia and other items, as they go under the hammer in the evening’s exclusive auction.

The National Motor Museum is a fitting location for this special event, in light of Murray Walker’s life-long support of the museum. His father, broadcaster and motorcycle racer Graham Walker, was the first curator of the motorcycle collection at Beaulieu. The annual Graham Walker Memorial Run for vintage motorcycles will be taking place the following day, on Sunday 15th August.
